How to Save a TikTok Without Posting It: 3 Easy Methods
Learn how to save a TikTok video without posting it on iPhone and Android: "Only me" mode, drafts, and tips to keep the video in your Gallery.
Made an edit in TikTok and want to save the TikTok video without posting it? Maybe to keep it, send it to a friend or post it somewhere else, without your followers seeing it? Good news: you can. In this guide, you'll learn 3 simple ways to save a TikTok without posting it, on iPhone and Android.
Method 1: post it as "Only me" and save to device
This is the most popular method. The video is technically posted, but nobody except you can see it.
- Create or edit your video in TikTok, then tap Next.
- On the posting screen, tap "Everyone can view this post" (or "Who can watch").
- Select Only me.
- Open More options and turn on Save to device (or "Save posts").
- Tap Post.
The video is saved to your Gallery (Android) or Photos (iPhone), and it stays private on your profile. You can delete it from TikTok later if you want.
Good to know: menu names may change slightly depending on your TikTok version. If you can't find an option, update the app.
Method 2: save the video to your drafts
- After editing, tap Next.
- On the posting screen, tap Drafts (bottom left).
- The video is saved in the Drafts tab on your profile.
Watch out: drafts stay inside the TikTok app, on your phone only. They're not in your Gallery, and they disappear if you delete TikTok or switch phones. To really keep a video, use method 1.
Method 3: film with your camera, then import into TikTok
If you mainly want to keep the original footage:
- Film with your phone's Camera app: the video goes straight to your Gallery.
- In TikTok, tap + then Upload to add and edit it.
This way you keep a copy of the raw video, without posting anything.
What about a video you already posted publicly?
If your video is already public and you want a clean copy without watermark, as an HD MP4:
- In TikTok, open the video and tap Share → Copy link.
- Paste the link on ViyaSave and tap Download.
- Tap Download MP4.
It's perfect for reposting your own videos on Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts.
Note: ViyaSave only works with public videos. A video set to "Only me" can't be downloaded by an outside website.
Which method should you choose?
| Method | Video in your Gallery? | Visible to others? |
|---|---|---|
| "Only me" + Save to device | ✅ Yes | ❌ No |
| Drafts | ❌ No (inside TikTok only) | ❌ No |
| Film with your camera | ✅ Yes (raw video) | ❌ No |
| ViyaSave (public video) | ✅ Yes, without watermark | ✅ Already public |
